After Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan, two more members of their family have tested positive for coronavirus. The members are Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (46) and her daughter Aradhya Bachchan (8). They tested positive on Sunday, july 12, a day after her father-in-law and husband were hospitalized with the infection. The mother and daughter have decided to stay self-isolated at home by giving BMC a declaration. Amitabh’s wife- Jaya Bachchan, tested negative, as did their daughter Shweta and her family.

Abhisek broke the news of his wife and daughter testing positive through social media. In a tweet he wrote, “Aishwarya and Aaradhya have also tested COVID-19 positive. They will be self quarantining at home. The BMC has been updated of their situation and are doing the needful. The rest of the family including my mother have tested negative. Thank you all for your wishes and prayers.”

Abhisek was also the one to break the news of him and his father testing COVID-19 positive. In a tweet on saturday, he wrote, “Earlier today both my father and I tested positive for COVID-19. Both of us having mild symptoms have been admitted to hospital. We have informed all the required authorities and our family and staff are all being tested. I request all to stay calm and not panic. Thank you.”

Both Amitabh Bachchan and his son are admitted at Nanavati Hospital. They will stay hospitalized until the doctors decide otherwise. Their conditions have been said to be stable. Dr Abdul Samad Ansari, head of critical care at Nanavati, said that their line of treatment was supportive therapy for now.

“The senior actor is stable and doing well clinically. His symptoms are mild at this moment. His vitals and appetite are fine. Same is true for Abhishek,” said Dr Ansair. “It’s probably the fifth day since Amitabh’s symptoms have surfaced. In Covid patients, the peak impact is seen by the 10-12th day, but not in everyone. Many only have mild symptoms,” he added.

Additional municipal commissioner Suresh Kakani said Amitabh’s oxygen saturation levels were above 95%, which was the normal range.

All four Bachchan family bungalows in juhu have been sealed and posters have been put up outside by BMC declaring them ‘containment zones.’ Four municipal teams comprising 20 staffers were deployed to sanitise the bungalows and screen everyone. Officials said they had traced 28 high-risk contacts, all bungalow workers, after screening and collected their swabs for testing. The staff members have also been quarantined in one of the bungalows.
