Late Sushant Singh Rajput’s death has shocked the entire nation. It has also reignited the age-long debate of nepotism, groupism and favouritism in bollywood. In the wake of this, many Bollywood celebrities are receiving major hate on social media. These celebrities include Karan Johar, Alia Bhatt, Sonam Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, among many more. Not only are they getting trolled on the internet, but they are also getting harassed in their DM’s and comments. Some people have taken it too far, and they are leaving rape threats and death threats in the inbox of these celebrities. Some people have crossed their limits, targeting the families of these celebrities, using abusive language and making highly inappropriate comments.

As a result of this, many actors have turned off their comment section, and some actors, including Sonakshi Sinha, have decided to quit social media altogether. Alia Bhatt, her sister Shaheen Bhatt, and their mother Soni Razdan have limited their comments on Instagram.

A couple days back, Shaheen Bhatt, younger sister of Alia Bhatt, took to social media to share the screenshots of threats she has been receiving on Instagram. Now, her mother, Soni Razdan, is coming out in her daughters support and bashing instagram for not taking any strict action against online bullying.

She shared a screenshot of Shaheen’s original post. The post read, “To Instagram- you have zero tolerance policies for a lot of the content that people put up on your platform- i think it’s fair to say that misogynistic slurs, intended to subdue and oppress *should* fall under the umbrella of your zero tolerance community guidelines.”

In her caption, Soni Razdan tagged Instagram and wrote, “I do hope you’re reading this and taking some note of it. Because it really gets to the root of the issue. So easy to let the abusers off the hook. To let yourself off the hook. To let the onus fall on the abused to take action to protect themselves. It’s basically and fundamentally ALL WRONG.”

Further she wrote, “social media has for too long now become the most antisocial media mainly because those running the platforms are not doing enough to prevent abuse.

She went on to use hashtags like #enoughisenough, #stoponlinebullying and #stopharrassment.

Even Ranbir Kapoor’s sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni came out in support of Soni Razdan as she too commented on the post. Apart from her, Pooja Bhatt also came out in her support and wrote, “I completely agree. @instagram needs to have a good, hard look at their policies. The trolls who spew venom in the name of others need to be brought to book. Why should I disallow comments and block people who are respectful and kind even in their criticism or disagreement? Abusive behaviour needs to be nipped in the bud. We shouldn’t have to change the way we live our lives.”
