According to a report by Times of India, actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s niece has filed a sexual harassment case against Nawazuddin’s brother, Minazuddin Siddiqui. The report was filed at Jamia police station in Delhi. According to the report, she was just 9 years old when the alleged abuse happened for the first time. In a telephonic interview with ETimes she said, “I have filed a complaint about sexual harassment by my uncle when I was nine years old. My parents were divorced when I was two years old, so I had a stepmother. I was tortured a lot. As a child I didn’t understand thinking it was my uncle, but when I grew up I realized it was a different kind of touch. There was violence too.”
The girl had a court marriage in 2017. She told ETimes that her husband fully supports her in her decision of filing a legal complaint and that she also possesses proof of the physical violence. She further revealed that her father and her uncle Nawazuddin have been harassing her in-laws. She said, “Even after my marriage, my father and Nawaz bade papa was also involved, filed false cases to harass my in-laws. Even now every six months my father files some cases and I am sure he will do something after my complaint too.”
Apparently the woman also reached out to Nawazuddin for help. But when she told him about the assault, he completely ignored her and said, “Chacha hai, aisa kabhi nhi ke sakte (he is your uncle, he can never do something like this).” She was hoping that he will understand her situation since he lives in a different society.
Nawazuddin’s wife Aaliya had also filed for a divorce last month. A few weeks back, she made a shocking revelation that she was a subject to domestic abuse and that it was not her husband, but his brother Shamas Siddiqui, who had raised a hand on her. “His family has mentally and physically tortured me lot. Nawazuddin’s family has a history of mistreating their women. Seven cases are already registered against them by the wives of their household,” she had said in an interview. Aaliya is now coming out in support of the niece who has filed the complaint. Tweeting about it, she wrote, “This is the beginning. Thanking god for sending so much support already. Lot will be revealed.” In the same tweet she also accused Siddiqui family of trying to hide the truth by using money and giving bribes. Here is her tweet:

Shamas Siddiqui, brother of Nawazuddin, has also spoken out on the entire situation. He has completely denied the sexual harassment allegations. He states that a case has already been registered in the Uttarakhand high court. “How can someone misguide the law and file the same case with different statement at @DelhiPolice, when there was no name of Nawazuddin in the earlier statement given 2 years back to court and the case is in Uttarakhand high court as well,” Shamas tweeted. “Truth will be uncovered soonest,” he added further.
