After Gulabo Sitabo, yet another Bollywood film that was supposed to be released on the big screen is having a digital release instead. Bollywood Actor Vidya Balan’s biopic of Shakuntala Devi is all set to release on july 31st on Amazon prime video. In this biopic, Vidya Balan is playing the role of Shakuntala Devi, also known as ‘Human Computer.’ Shakuntala Devi was an Indian writer and mental computer. Her talent earned her a place in the 1982 edition of The Guinness Book of World Records.
Vidya Balan is thrilled to play Shakuntala Devi. Talking aout it, she said in a statement, “I am extremely excited to play the human computer, Shakuntala Devi, on the big screen. She was truly someone who embraced her individuality, had a strong feminist voice and braved many a naysayer to reach the pinnacle of success. But what truly fascinates me is that you wouldn’t normally associate a fun person with Math…and she completely turns that perception on its head.”
Vidya Balan was last seen in Mission Mangal which came out in 2019. Apart from Vidya, the film also stars Sanya Malhotra, Amit Sadh and Jisshu Sengupta in significant roles.
A fews days back, Balan took to twitter to announce the digital release of her film. She wrote, “Thrilled that we will be able to entertain you in these unprecedented time.”
